Walk With Me

This book is ready to come into the world.

After nearly 15 years of studying astrology, including Jyotisa, I felt called to teach. This process naturally led me to develop an extensive body of course material, shaped through years of study, reflection, and practice.

What I am now publishing is a portion of that work.

This book forms Volume 1, Essentials of Jyotisa, of a larger series titled Foundations and Frameworks of Indian Astrology, envisioned as part of a structured five-year course in Jyotisa. The present volume includes roughly half of the material from the first year and lays the conceptual foundation for what follows.

Much of modern Indian astrology builds on inherited interpretations. With this body of work, I attempt a restoration of something essential that risks being lost.

To understand astrology, we must first understand the worldview of the tradition from which it arises. Without the worldview, we would be applying techniques without context and astrology will lose its depth.

To enter that worldview is to recognise that we are not separate from the cosmos, but participants within it. Human life is part of a larger cosmic order of creation in which meaning, structure, and experience are intimately connected.

Astrology is a means of approaching the profound truths of our participation in this cosmos, and of understanding how this human experience is situated within a greater whole, the One.

In this work, I turn towards the foundations of Indian tradition; exploring creation, philosophy, cosmology, and the ontological and metaphysical basis of the Indian tradition that underlies Jyotisa. Drawing from the Ṛgveda and classical astrological literature preserved over thousands of years, this work seeks to re-anchor Jyotisa in its philosophical and cosmological roots.

Much of what passes today as Indian astrology is shaped by later commentaries and some untested opinions or assumptions. This work is a conscious attempt to step away from that approach and to re-engage directly with the sources themselves. I don’t mean to add another layer of interpretation, but I aim to return to the foundation upon which interpretation becomes possible.

In a way, this work is aimed to be a classical revival of authentic Jyotisa.

Work of this nature requires time, care, and independence.

Foundations & Frameworks of Indian Astrology

Essentials of Jyotisa

About Volume 1

A rare attempt to rebuild the foundations of Jyotisa from its original philosophical and cosmological roots, this work offers a profound exploration of the tradition as preserved in its earliest sources. FFIA-I engages directly with sources such as the Ṛgveda, along with a wide range of classical works, both astrological and non-astrological, establishing a foundation of unusual depth in contemporary astrological literature.

Foundations and Frameworks of Jyotisa brings into focus the essential relationship between astrology, philosophy, and cosmology, revealing the profound connection between human life and the larger order of creation. Rather than building upon inherited interpretations or opinionated assumptions, this work returns to the roots of the tradition, seeking clarity at the source.

In doing so, it does not move away from prediction or forecasting, but towards their proper ground. By exploring the cosmological, philosophical, and metaphysical basis of the tradition, it restores the framework within which predictive techniques gain coherence, meaning, and reliability. Drawing from the enduring wisdom of the tradition, this book offers an approach that is both intellectually rigorous and faithful to its origins, while remaining fully relevant to practising astrologers, teachers, and students.

Moving beyond the modern debate of fate and free will, it invites the reader into a deeper enquiry into self-awareness and participation within the cosmos. A practitioner engaging with this work will not only anticipate events in a native’s life, but also understand the deeper reality within which those events unfold.
